First, you get to hold onto all 12 bits per channel of color information that get lost when you convert into JPEG or 8-bit TIFF files. Second, the underlying ('raw') data is not affected when you edit an image. Capture NX-D can carry out sophisticated and wide-ranging adjustments, from automatic lens corrections (with Nikon lenses) to subtle selective colour shifts. But that's as far as it goes. Nikon Capture NX is a full-scale digital-image processing and editing software application for digital photographers, descended from Nikon Capture. Capture NX-D is Mac and PC compatible, and can open and process.NEF and.NRW files from all Nikon cameras—current or older. Features of Capture NX-D include batch processing, levels and curves adjustments, adjustments to Nikon Picture Controls including the latest Picture Control styles as well as with RAW files from older cameras, white balance, noise reduction, unsharp mask and camera and lens corrections.
